Dr. Grace E. Smart, D.D.S.,
M.S.
After
graduating from Balboa High School in the former Panama Canal Zone,
Dr. Grace E. Smart attended Texas A&M University in College Station,
Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from
the University of Texas at Dallas in 1981. She earned her D.D.S.
degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas in 1986.
She continued her two year specialty training at Baylor earning her
Certificate in 1988. In 1989 she received her Master of Science
degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. She was a clinical
instructor for the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at BCOD from
1988 to 1990.
Dr. Smart has lived in Garland since 1979 and remains very active in
the community. She has been on the City of Garland Library Advisory
Board since 1992 and has been its chairperson for the last 6 years.
For six years she served on the Board of Directors for the
Achievement Center of Texas after donating the land where their
facility is now located. This center is the only one of its kind in
the Metroplex that helps children and young adults with special
needs. She is a member of the Garland Rotary Club and was the first
woman inducted as a member in 1988. Dr. Smart has actively
supported activities in local schools in the Garland, Richardson,
and Plano communities. She is an active member of Lavon Drive
Baptist Church in Garland.
In addition to her involvement in the community, Dr. Smart has been
Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since
1995.

Because she is fluent in Spanish, Dr. Smart is able to provide her
services to a large number of Hispanic families who find it hard to
take their children to a dentist with whom they can communicate in
their own language.
Upon graduating from Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Smart opened
her practice on Beltline Road and soon outgrew the office space. She
built her present office, where she has been practicing for the last
16 years. Dr. Smart and her daughters, Kristi Marie and Kathryn
Rose, reside in Garland.

Bonnie Marrs
Office Manager
Bonnie managed a dentist office in Odessa, Texas prior to moving
to Dallas in 2007. She brings nineteen years in banking and
finance prior to joining the dental field. She joined Garland
Pediatric Dentistry where she has been the Office Manager since
April 2009. She lives in Savannah, Texas with her husband,
Marcus, and her two adorable Chihuahuas, Mickey and Sister. In
addition to spending time with her husband and the dogs, she
cherishes the opportunities she gets to share with her family.
She has a daughter and her husband who live in Lewisville, Texas
and a granddaughter named Ellie, and another daughter and her
husband in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a granddaughter named
Talia, and grandson named Christian. She also has a stepson in
the Coast Guard who lives in Hawaii with his wife. In addition,
she has a stepson in the Navy and another stepson in Lubbock,
Texas who is a coach and teacher. Bonnie enjoys helping other
people and spending time with her family. She is a member of
First Baptist Church of Frisco and has enjoyed starting a new
life with the church and meeting new friends.

Angela Reynolds
Registered Dental
Hygienist
Angela has been practicing
Dental Hygiene for eight years after receiving her B.S. degree
in Dental Hygiene from Midwestern State University of which the
last five years have been in Pediatric Dentistry. She loves her
young patients and finds much satisfaction when she is helping
her patients develop and master their dental hygiene skills and
techniques. Her ultimate goal is to have her young patients
become adults with meticulous hygiene habits. On any given
weekend, you will find her with her sister and nieces, doing
yard work or on the couch watching TV with her husband and cat.

Dana Yow
Financial Coordinator
Dana joined
Garland Pediatric Dentistry in October 2008 as our Financial
Coordinator and brings eleven years of experience in the dental
field. Her area of expertise is discussing treatment needs with
parents and providing financial options. She is a native of
Dallas where she has lived her entire life. Currently, she lives
in Richardson with her husband and two children. In addition to
spending time with her family, Dana cherishes the opportunities
she gets to share quality time with her younger brother. On the
weekends you will find her doing volunteer work with her church. |

Jessica Callaway
Lead Clinical
Coordinator
Registered Dental Assistant
Jessica completed her high school education at Mesquite Academy
and enrolled at East Texas Dental Assisting School where she
graduated as a Registered Dental Assistant in 2008. Following
her externship, she came to Garland Pediatric Dentistry where
she has been working since May 2008 as the lead Clinical
Coordinator. Her enthusiastic personality and love for children
shows as she interacts with our patients to make them feel
comfortable and excited about their visit to our office. Jessica
grew up in Mesquite and has an older sister who is also a
Registered Dental Assistant. In her free time, she enjoys
spending time with her parents and going fishing and bowling
with her boyfriend, John. Jessica loves animals especially cats
and her newest pet in her kitten, Gracie. Jessica is a new
Christian and enjoys doing mission trips with Dr. Smart. |

Dorrie Rayburn
Administrative
Coordinator
Born in Indiana, Dorrie
moved to Texas with her family while in high school. She
graduated from Garland Christian Academy and attended Liberty
University. In 1992, Dorrie married her husband, Brian, who
works for the Dallas County Sherriff’s Department. They now have
two children, Allysa and Brian. She enjoys going to her son’s
football games and listening to her daughter sing and play the
piano. In her spare time, she participates in her church’s
Pro-Life outreach and likes to work outside in her garden. |

Kim Miller
Registered Dental
Assistant
Kim has been a dental
assistant for twenty years and has worked with children for the
last ten years. Her and her family relocated from Illinois to
Texas a year ago and joined Garland Pediatric Dentistry four
months ago. If you ask her when she will be returning to
Illinois, she will tell you she is here to stay. She enjoys
exploring Texas and loves the southern hospitality. She has been
married seventeen years and has two boys, Lukas and Jacob. Kim’s
hobbies include cooking, reading, and going shopping. |

Lizzie Edgar
Registered Dental
Assistant
Lizzie recently finished her
training at ATI Career Training Center in Richardson. After the
completion of her externship, she knew her heart belonged in
Pediatric Dentistry. She began working at Garland Pediatric
Dentistry in May 2010 as our Hygiene Assistant. You will find
her interacting with our patients when they come in for their
dental checkup with our hygienist, Angela. Outside of work, she
enjoys spending time with her daughter, drawing, and mudding.
